Crow 56 is a stitched collage combining paper, fabric, paint, beads and buttons. Somewhat abstract in nature, the sewn collage emphasizes color, line and texture.
The art quilt is created by first layering fabric and paper from an old book. The collage is then quilted and secured with a sewing machine. Next, the bird is painted, and finally, the bead and button embellishments are added.
Crows are a favorite subject for me, but many things could serve as a central figure in a collage like this, be it animal, flora or literally anything that inspires.
