Song Bird Painting in Mixed Media

Bird WXY is a mixed media painting on wood. Created in layers with a background of paper, book pages and pieces of map, the painting is covered with layers of color in acrylic paint and other water based media.

The bird perched on the branch is content in his natural habitat. Surrounded by the symbols of the human world, the numbers and letters intrude but don't stop the little bird from finding his way home.

It's the first painting of a series combining typography and mixed media, with the regular appearance of birds.
